We know that DEI matters to employees and job seekers. We also know that many companies claim to value diversity, equity, and inclusion, but according to Glassdoor reviews, their employees don’t always agree. Here are seven companies whose reviews prove their intent behind DEI is backed up with action. Each of these companies appears on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work 2023 list. Let’s see what they’re doing that makes them stand out as inclusive workplaces. 

Software company Gainsight earned the top, #1 spot on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work 2023 list, and for good reason, including its impressive rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars on DEI. Reviewers praise Gainsight’s “diversity of thought” and say the company “truly believes in their values and in equity, diversity, and inclusion.”

“DEI is intrinsically linked to Gainsight's business strategy and purpose,” said Gainsight’s vice president of Teammate Success, Kelly O'Blennis. “We believe in winning in business while being human first.  Focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion is not only part of our human-first mission, we believe it's part of our strategy to win."

Software giant Microsoft has invested in DEI, and it shows, with a DEI rating of 4.4 out of 5 stars. Landing in the 15th spot on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work 2023 list, comments about its DEI efforts include praise for “company culture centered on diversity and inclusion” and a “commitment” to DEI both internally and through inclusive hiring practices.

Real estate company eXp Realty ranked 22nd on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work 2023 list and goes big on DEI, with a rating of 4.6 out of 5 stars on their DEI efforts. DEI is even part of its mission, to build the company into “the most diverse, equitable and inclusive real estate brokerage in the world.” Reviews tout an “inclusive, friendly, and very supportive” environment, and say the company has “stepped up in the diversity realm.”

4. Adobe

Digital media company Adobe rates 4.4 out of 5 stars on their DEI efforts, and ranked 16th on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work 2023 list. Reviewers celebrate its approach to DEI, with comments like, “The people and the culture are the best you can ever come across,” where you “always feel respected” and that the company is “invested in diversity and inclusion at all levels.”

5. RSM

Accounting and tax firm RSM was ranked 40th on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work 2023 list and walks the talk on DEI with a 4.2-star rating. Reviewers mention that “diversity and inclusion is high on the agenda,” an “inclusive culture,” and a “strong diversity and inclusion program.”

We also share our internal resources for the benefit of our clients and others who want to drive meaningful positive change and create a more equitable future for all,” said O’Brien.

Aerospace and defense company Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory  ranks 4.2 out of 5 stars on its DEI efforts, and 44th on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work 2023 list, with reviews that mention “a great culture of diversity and innovation,” and a “welcoming environment” that “never stops trying to grow, adapt, and improve.”

Software giant Dell Technologies ranked 66th on Glassdoor’s Best Places to Work 2023 list and boasts a 4.4 out of 5 star rating on DEI. Reviewers highlight a “strong culture of” and “commitment to” diversity and inclusion, mention the company’s “diversity values” and praise its environment of “integrity and respect.” 

“There is a great culture of inclusiveness, diversity, collaboration and opportunity to grow,” said one reviewer.
