How Much to Tip a Massage Therapist
Why does tipping matter?
Tips are financially helpful for many massage therapists. The median pay for massage therapists is $27.86 per hour, according to the Occupational Outlook Handbook from the U.S. Bureau of Labor and Statistics. Massage therapists’ pay rates are typically lower than the average price of a 60-minute massage, which can cost $150 or more. "When you walk away from that massage, that’s going to serve you for two to three weeks in your job, your home life [and] your social life," says Patricia Rossi, a business etiquette coach based in the Tampa Bay, Florida, area. "It will make you feel better and be a better human." A tip, she says, will help you "honor" the professional.Meet MoneyNerd, your weekly news decoder
