What is a quality assurance analyst?

A quality assurance analyst monitors and tests a company's production and product quality. They perform multiple tests, including efficiency and quality checks, that gauge a company's overall production. Their job duties include:
  • Developing new test plans: Quality assurance analysts create product and production tests for their clients. These tests include physical processes, such as stress testing and digital steps, like simulation in a virtual environment.
  • Creating and monitoring test scripts: Quality assurance analysts may program new testing scripts that help companies track their production quality. They use these programs to check for product and service reliability, functionality, performance and quality.
  • Identifying potential problems: Analysts may spot potential concerns with a company's production steps and create solutions for these issues. For example, an analyst may correct a business' manufacturing process if it produces weaker products by creating guidelines for stronger material use.
  • Collecting and analyzing data: Quality assurance may include testing the quality assurance data gathered via a company's testing programs. Analysts compile and check this information to identify potential production trends and concerns and help companies create production solutions.
  • Writing quality assurance policies: Companies may hire analysts to create their quality assurance policies and procedures. Analysts can then write these guidelines to follow state and federal rules and laws.
  • Investigating customer concerns: Quality assurance analysts may investigate a business' customer complaints by testing its products and manufacturing processes. They may work directly with the customers when resolving these issues, such as providing them with stronger replacement products.
